Winter essentials 2014

WInter essentials 2014

I’m so excited to share with your this post, about the Winter Essentials 2014! It features all the typical seasonal products, from make up trends, down to skincare treatments and fragrance, filtered through my very personal experience and perspective. Thanks to the lovely Jacqueline of A vibrant day, for having passed me this tag. For the same reason, I’d like to invite Maria from Cat Eyes Red Lips, Allie from The Friday girl, Alif from Thatsaleaf and The Beauty Badger to do the tag.

So let’s get started!

1 – What’s your ultimate party season lip product?

Dior Addict Fluid Stick in the shade #753 Open Me – A classy red that looks spectacular on the lips, because it matches the properties of a lipstick, with the rich texture and shine of a lip gloss. I think parties need more glossiness rather than mat lips. And red is the only shade I can imagine in winter.

2 – What’s your winter essential product?

Black eye pencil. A soft one, to create smokey eyes. Better if paired with a sharpener to ensure the tip is always ready to line. I get all this from Chanel Le crayon Khol.

3 – Name one beauty essential that’s never missing from your bag during the colder months.

Sure. Lip treatments and  balms. Have you ever tried Dior Lip Experts Duo?

4 – What are you most hoping to see under your tree Christmas morning?

A palette for the cheeks, which is something I’ve never bought up until now and I’d really like to try. Nars Virtual Domination is a limited edition holiday set that offers Laguna bronzer, Miss Liberty Highlighter and three best selling blushes such as Deep Throat, Final cut and Sex Fantasy.

5  – What are your winter weather skincare saviours?

A balmy product to remove my make up in the evening, a luscious treatment to feel the skin more supple and hydrated, once washed off: Take the day off from Clinique. Next a vanilla scented body butter from Sephora, a serum rich in antioxidants and natural oils.

6 – What’s winter going to smell like this year?

Very difficult to say, as I’m wearing 4 to 5 different fragrances a week. But considering the most actual product launches, I would mention Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium. A blend of vanilla, pink pepper, jasmine, orange blossom, cedar, patchouli, which is meant as a rock&roll interpretation of the classic Opium.

7 – Is the berry eye the new berry lip?

Yes. Although I’m interpreting the trend through more plum-purple undertones, which look wearable also on very pale skin. Following Annie’s advice, I finally bought Chanel illusion d’ombre in #92 and I think I will be wearing it very often. It’s a shimmery highly pigmented creamy eyeshadow in a pot, equipped with an applicator brush. A more detailed post will follow soon.

8 – What are your greatest winter indulgences?

Candles, baths and baths with candles. Have a look at the French brand Esteban product range. It’s all amazing. I’m addicted to their Neroli and Magnolia in particular, but every pick smells like heaven. They’re artists of perfume and all their creations have been conceived to wrap your senses with delicacy. The packaging of every candle is elegant and luxurious: to make both you and whom you love a wonderful Christmas present.

9 – Lush Christmas: Your top pick?

To be honest, I’m not a Lush expert. I would only suggest Ultrabland balm, for the AM beauty routine, as an alternative to lighter products I see as more suitable to summertime. It’s a face cleanser with a balmy texture, rich in almond oil, rose water, beeswax and honey and no bad chemicals in it. It’s not foamy, first and most of all and leaves the skin clean and soft.

10 – Name one (or more) random winter essential.

I’d suggest two. A fine loose powder for the face, because I think winter make up is all about mat and porcelain looking skin. And then a rich hand cream. My secret weapons here are Make Up forever HD Loose Poweder and Terme di Tabiano Crema vellutante mani: a thermal specialty that treats your hands like nothing else in the world.

I hope you enjoyed the post Have a nice day/eve and thanks for reading!

Open me is the perfect opening to this post! I agree about glossiness being better well suited for parties. I love the matte look, but it’s high maintence, and there’s more room for error.
The Dior lip treatment has been on my list for awhile (shhh… I bought it for my mom for Christmas). 😊
I hope you end up with the NARS palette under your tree! It looks like a fun one!!
Black Opium is wonderful!! Wonderful answers! I enjoyed your post ☺️👏

Hi Jackie, it was so fun to create the mood board with all the suggestions and I enjoyed the tag really much! I’m surely doing one for every season, as it can be useful to other bloggers, looking for something special according to the weather and trends.
This year Nars proposes a lot of useful products and sets, their lip pencil limited edition kit is also a good present to find under the tree. And talking lips, I’m sure your mom will enjoy her little Dior treasure as well. I purchased a Dior nail polish in one of their luxury jewel-bottle with the golden cap. It will be a stocking filler among chocolate candies and other tiny sweets 😉
You know what? I think matte looking lips give people a sort of stiff appearance and definitely look better on those ‘lucky’ of us, provided with natural big and thick lips. I’d keep them for an office outfit, for instance. Wishing you a nice day!

Ooooh! Those Dior polishes look amazing! Won’t it be fun to see what goodies our fellow bloggers get under the tree?!
I’m glad you enjoyed the tag. I think it’s fun to share in the bigger community. We’re pretty lucky to get to make friends around the globe. Anyway, I enjoyed your answers. Hugs. Hope your day is finishing off nicely.

I think lip balms are my absolute must winter item, you know how bad dry lips hurt! I have at least 2 in my bag and another two under my pillow so i can stay hydrated at night 😀 Thanks for the inspiration! ^_^ xx

I see you do your homework really well! 😉 I do the same as you, two in the handbag, two at home, one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom and each one is different: from the typical cocoa butter, to the pharmacy balm, coming to the drugstore product, down to the high-end treatment… Are you going to do your tag as well?
