Chic summer lips

Chic summer lips

Summer and lips: two categories I’ve been exploring recently, trying to find out something really chic to use during these wonderfully sun-kissed days.

But what’s exactly “chic” to me?

When I use this adjective, I mean something beautiful, performing and affordable at the same time. Something that makes you feel fabulous, although you’ve slept only three hours the night before, without being bloody-hell expensive. Inspired by some beauty blogs and last weekend’s long chatting with my mom, who’s the most demanding person I know in terms of lip products, I decided to edit the top goodies you need to try this summer.

  1. Clinique Chubby Stick in the shade #05 Plushest Punch – raspberry pink – is a tinted lip balm I love and recommend anyone, because it’s halfway between sheer and opaque. It leaves the lips moisturized and smooth, without adding “too much” in terms of color or coverage. As the name suggests, the shade #5 is a dark pink with fuchsia undertones, a must-have for this season!
  2. Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in the shade #Dragon Girl- syren red – is a creamy, but really long lasting lip pencil, with a mat finish that doesn’t seem “too serious” once applied. The shade Dragon Girl is a bright red, that looks absolutely amazing on both pale and tanned skin, it brightens the smile and is very uptodate. I tried it with a very soft eye make up and just a touch of bb cream on the face and felt like I needed nothing else. The sensation it gives on the lips is soft and nice.
  3. Sephora Cream Lip stain in the shade #01 Always red – Absolutely approved by my mom, who dislikes any sticky liquid lipsticks, as well as those dry products , because she needs more softness and comfort on her aging lips, Sephora cream lip stain is one of the best products for the lips we both have tried in our lives. Don’t be mislead by its texture and appearance at first sight, because a few seconds after you wear it, it changes a lot. At the beginning it seems much more as a lip glaze, with this creamy consistency and a little less vibrant color, but then it becomes very intense. The shade I bought for me, which is #Always red looks strong and sexy, it’s a very deep red, perhaps even a bit too much, if you’re very young or you have thin lips. But luckily Sephora Cream Lip Stain is available in a rich array of different shades, including light pink, fuchsia, mauve, and an other, lighter red too.
  4. Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip perfector – A very important feature of lip products is the scent. Believe me, when a balm or lipstick has got a nasty smell, wearing them is a nightmare. I remember that when I was a child, my mom’s lipsticks from Christian Dior had such a sweet and delicate smell of rose and flowers that she felt always better, after passing those sticks on her lips. Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector has got a delicious scent and a natural color that is perfect either alone or under your favorite lipstick. It nourishes, protects and repair: important properties, when you’re under the sun and your lips need extra care!
